Technology is coming to the aid of service providers keen to help clients supported by Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Mobile software company GEO is in the final development phase of an innovative product that will make its already award-winning mobile workforce management technology the ideal platform for service providers and people with disabilities under the new NDIS.

Called GeoCare, the new platform will make it easy for NDIS clients and their carers to find and use vital resources and services. It is being developed by GEO along with Australian service provider ACES.

Mobile workforce management software, culminating in the soon-to-be released GeoCare platform, allows NDIS service providers to support clients by programming recurring treatments, booking regular appointments and finding specialist services. Service providers have access to information anywhere, in real time, through their mobile devices and can select and provide the right services when the client needs them.

The NDIS provides direct support for Australians with disabilities, their families and carers. It is currently being released in stages across Australia. Once the rollout is complete, the NDIS is expected to provide 460,000 Australians with the support they need to lead an ordinary life.

GEO’s chief executive officer Anna Cicognani said GeoCare is an important breakthrough in how NDIS patients will have access to specialist care. “This innovation will support the thousands of service providers across the world servicing the disability sector and our growing ageing population,” Dr Cicognani said.

“GeoCare is part of our strategy to offer a suite of mobile workforce management solutions for specific business needs. We are proud to partner with ACES and its long history of providing high-quality services.”

Dr Cicognani said GEO’s mobile job management software is already an ideal platform for service providers and NDIS clients. GeoCare, which is due for release at the end of 2016, will make it even better. “We want GeoCare to be the only software NDIS clients need to book appointments and connect with carers, specialists and other users,” she said.

ACES chief executive officer Kathy Wonderley said the NDIS will revolutionise the business model for service providers. “Working with GEO to build additional features onto their platform to drive efficiency, social connectivity and core carer/client management further highlights our commitment to our clients,” Ms Wonderley said.
